Judith Pishnery

Photographer,  Curator, Arts Consultant, Digital Asset Management, Instructor/Mentor, Educator

Extensive professional experience in digital asset management, photography education, arts administration, assignments, exhibitions, and curatorial management.

Currently the Digital Asset Manager and Photography Team leader at Kennesaw State University, Judith is responsible for the oversight and structure of the university’s Digital Asset Library. Additionally, she manages the professional team of photographers in capturing the people and stories the make up the rich fabric of the university. Her role within the Strategic Communications and Marketing department is to provide creative support and direction for communications and marketing projects that range from print and digital ads to website assets.

As the Executive Director at the Atlanta Photography Group (2018 to 2020), Judith served as the chief operating officer of Atlanta’s oldest photography art center. She worked closely with the Board of Directors to direct and administer all programs, operations, and policies, supervised professional staff and volunteers, along with providing curatorial oversight and management for exhibitions, as well as structuring the handling of all of all digital and physical assets.

From 2014-2018, serving as the Photography Department Director at an Atlanta area college, Judith revamped the department with new computer classrooms, print labs, and put in place a streamlined equipment storage and checkout system. In addition to the physical changes in the department she was responsible for rewriting the curriculum to include a solid technical, and creative photographic base, along with an eye to current trends and techniques affecting a photographic career. She instituted a digital asset system to handle department and student digital files. Judith managed a team of 8 faculty members, a staff of 3 department employees, 3 federal work study students, 100+ students, a program budget of over $400,000 and annual equipment grants ranging from $11,000 to $120,000. Her other responsibilities included participation as a SkillsUSA advisor, Technical Chair and National Education Team member.

As a professional photographer, Judith continues to work on selective assignments for editorial, catalog, advertising and corporate clients. She provides exceptional customer service and outstanding value for her clients, including organization and management of several clients’ digital assets.

In addition, she has served on the working boards of APA/Atlanta (American Photographic Artists) and the Advisory Board of Atlanta Celebrates Photography (an annual photography festival). She was an insturmental member of the Board of Directors of ACP since the early planning sessions in 1998.

She resides in a small town outside Atlanta, not unlike where she grew up in Pennsylvania, with her husband and two dogs.

Judith continues to offer a limited selection of expert, dynamic, creative learning experiences, thru her company, Pisconeri Workshops. The Workshops are an opportunity to learn from a professional photographer and educator through hands-on-instruction, field trips, and travel experiences, bringing together the worlds of photography, art, history, travel and exploration for the creative mind. Each workshop is specially designed to explore and experiment with techniques, methods and creative processes to expand the visual content and technical expertise of the photograph. Locations include: the Tuscan & Umbrian country-sides of Italy, areas of France including - Paris, Provence, the Dordogne, Normandy and the Loire Valley, Portugal (with a base in or near Lisbon) and US locations including Atlanta, the Southeast and select locations.
